Should Children Use Tablets
Kids are certainly no stranger to all the technology available today. They’re surrounded with smart phones, tablets, and laptops and if they were allowed they would sit and watch these four hours a day. With so many options they are mesmerized by cartoons, music, and there seems to be so many features for kids tablets.
Anytime I have my smartphone or tablet out it’s like my son can sense it. I never would’ve thought that kids would enjoy today’s electronics like they do. They have certainly found their place in the car on long trips, or in the house when the kids just want to kick back.
Despite the satisfaction should kids be using tablets? This is a question you certainly have to address if you are a parent. They’re certainly has to be boundary set if you do allow your child to play with a tablet.
Just as you would limit their time watching TV the same should go with tablets, smartphones, and other handheld devices for children. Although some might argue that a tablet for kids will make them inactive and lazy, I disagree. You certainly want to limit their time using it but it’s important to remember that they are also learning and interacting when they’re using a tablet.
When my son is using his Leappad he is certainly getting a nice education from it. Within just a couple weeks of watching the letter factory for his Leappad he was not only saying each letter but also sounding them out as he would cycle through the alphabet.
Not to mention all the times he was building his motor skills playing games that allowed him to interact with the various elements on the screen. He has also used it many times to color, trace letters, learn shapes, animals, and much more.
My personal opinion is that you should let your kids use technology just limit it like you would any other thing. If you really want the best for your child you should get an educational tablet that will help your child learn.
