Your NEXUS membership is valid for 5 years. Check the expiry date on your NEXUS card. If you renew your membership before the expiry date, you can retain your NEXUS privileges.
Should I get both NEXUS and Global Entry
There are no additional requirements for a member to use the NEXUS lanes coming into the U.S. However, Global Entry cards are not valid for entry into Canada via the NEXUS lanes and kiosks; travelers must apply separately for NEXUS.
Is Nexxus better than Global Entry
If you travel between Canada and the U.S. often, Nexus is better because it can help you in both directions. However, if you travel to many different countries (whether they include Canada or not), Global Entry is better because it speeds your entry back into the U.S.

When these programs first launched, it was easy to get an appointment but the secret is out so it can be really difficult unless you're willing to travel to a remote office. It's really difficult to get a Nexus appointment since the Canadian offices are closed because of Covid and staff shortages.

To qualify, an applicant must pass law enforcement checks by both the United States and Canada and be interviewed at a NEXUS Enrollment Center. Membership may be denied if the applicant provides false or incomplete information or has been convicted of a criminal offense. Payment must be made at the time of application.

30 minutes
The NEXUS interview varies between NEXUS enrollment centers but is similar to clearing customs at the airport. Your interview will take 30 minutes and takes place at the enrollment center of your choice. You will be interviewed twice; once by a customs officer from the USA and again by one from Canada.
